Why don’t we use more VIOLET at work?
You might get surprised when we learn the meaning of this color.
The VIOLET color is related to transformation, change, reflection, self-awareness, sensitivity, spirituality, wisdom and meditation.
So you might ask yourself why we are not using it more often, if we are going through a big change and transformational process as individuals, teams, organizations, companies, societies and as human race.
Whatever preconceived idea we have about VIOLET, and why it might not be “professional” to use it at work, it is just that, a preconception.
If you think about the number of communications you are doing in a month (presentations to your client, your team, newsletters, etc), where you are taking and brain storming about changes and transformations. Did you count the number of times you could have used VIOLET color?
Even when you are encouraging your teams on leveraging well-being habits like meditation, self-awareness and reflection, you can count another set of times you could have used VIOLET color.
We are going through a lot of changes these days, but the more critical aspect of it, it is that most of the people are afraid of changes. And that is okey. It has a neuroscience explanation.
Our brain is continuously trying to simplify our life, so when something gets out of the “normal”, it has a mechanical response to it. Once we learn how our mind works, we can navigate them better.
So going back to practical implementations of VIOLET, How can we bring more VIOLET on daily basis at work?
By creating VIOLET Spaces like…
VIOLET TIME: breaks at work to encourage employees to go for a meditation or nature contemplation
VIOLET SPARK MEETINGS: brain storming meetings to identify changes required in different areas, processes, methodologies to provide a better service to clients
VIOLET NEWS: communications where you are announcing changes and transformations
VIOLET AGENTS: these are the well known Change agentes!
VIOLET FEARS SPACES: create a space to talk about fears related to change, Can we talk about fears at work?
So Let’s explore VIOLET behaviors…
Since leaders are mirrors of their teams, and teams are mirrors of their leaders…Let’s start with a Leader, you (everyone is a leader at a specific circumstance) or any Leader you know.
What is a VIOLET Leader?
A VIOLET Leader is the one who represents all the meanings of VIOLET. It is the one who:
Is constantly looking to drive change, enhancing services for clients and experiences for employees
Supports and shows compassion to her/his team during a transformation process
Inspires her/his team to change and transform constantly
Creates safe spaces to talk about fears related to the changes going on
Is a culture change agent by nature
Inspires the well being of the team by leading as an example
So now that you know a little bit more about the VIOLET Color…
How VIOLET are you?
How VIOLET are you as a Leader today?
And How VIOLET would you like to be in the future?
