Impactful Leaders Bring the Whole Self

Updated: Aug 30, 2023

As part of YellowSeeds Creative Coaching and Consulting Services, one of our Seed Service is Impactful Leadership. Or what I like to call Colorful/Rainbow Leaders.

As we talked in my previous posts, Impactful Leaders have a set of colors, and aspects that describe not only their technical and professional capabilities, but also personal aspects of them. When a leader is behaving the same way at home than at work, she/he is bringing a whole self to work.

With what happened in recent years, most of the workforce was invited to work from home. The line dividing home and office started to disappear. And with that, the professional and personal self started to merge in each individual. You started to learn how was the house's routine of your work mates, how they like to decor their home, what time they have lunch and what they are good at cooking.

A lot of new aspects of your personal life started to emerge at work, because people started working unexpectedly from home. Even emotions were emerging since everyone was stressed and emotionally overwhelmed.

And it worked the other way too, your family saw you at work, how you express yourself and who are your work mates. It was easy for you to bring work at home because you don’t have the commute time to disconnect. With the advantages and disadvantages of it.

The questions, I would like to leave you to reflect are:

  • Can you list the aspects of yourself at work?

  • Can you list the aspects of yourself at home?

  • What are the differences of both lists?

  • Why?

This a goal for a Impactful Leader, embracing the whole individual. But as usual, it starts with oneself. Impactful leaders can’t be fully colorful if they don’t bring their whole self at work.

How whole are you coming to work these days?

How whole would you like to be at work in the future?

Stay Colorful!
