As I mentioned in my first post about RED Droppie, this book is a multipurpose and multi age one.
The invitation to use this book at school or at home for kids between 6 to 10 yrs old is slightly different from the younger ones.
These are just some ideas to use this book for those ages. I am sure your creativity will find more!
EMOTIONS: Reflect about love
What things do they do to love themselves?
How do they express love to others?
How do they see others expressing love to them?
Which ways of love do they see expressed in Mother Nature?
FRIENDSHIP
How do they make someone to feel at home?
What does it mean to be a good friend?
How can they express what friendship is about from a nature metaphor?
If they would need to draw something that represent friendship, what would they draw?
What is the relationship between love and friendship?
How do they show they care about someone?
GUARDIANS OF MOTHER EARTH: The book shared the idea that when we love ourselves, we love each other and we love all beings on Earth, we become the guardians of this planet. The idea is inviting the kids, to observe where they are in that process to becoming the guardians of Mother Earth by asking open questions:
What is your relationship with water? Do you like to be on water?
What is your relationship with earth? Do you like to walk barefoot on soil? How do you feel when you put your foot on earth? Do you like to touch the soil?
What is your relationship with plants? Have you taken care of a plant? If you haven't, would you like to try?
What is your relationship with animals? What are your favorite ones? and Why? Do you have one at home (like a dog or a cat)? How do you share your love with it?
What is your relationship with crystals? Do you know there are multiple colors of them? Once you learn about them, what is your favorite one? (here the idea is to explore with them crystals from each of the 7 colors of the rainbow and the super power of them)
LEARN ABOUT THEMSELVES THROUGH THE ELEMENTS in Astrology: this topic would like to bring an opportunity to explore other disciplines at home or at school like Astrology. I like to bring these ancient tools, because they have good questions that still apply to us and can bring a different perspective to see learn more about ourselves.
FIRE: in astrology it is associated with motivation, passion and taking action on something you love. As well as anger and frustration.
Do they like fire or do they don't? Why?
Which metaphor can they come up with about Fire and its meaning?
What are the things that motivate them? How can they draw them?
Is there anything they would love to do but they are afraid of trying? If any, Why? How can they draw the fear of trying it?
How do they handle anger?
How would they draw the anger emotion?
How do they handle frustration?
How would they draw the frustration emotion?
WATER: in astrology this element is associated with going with the flow, releasing control, connecting with your feelings and emotions. As well as, when we procrastinate tasks and it is hard to get them done.
What is their relation with water? Do they like to swimming?
How do they connect with their emotions (Joy, Love, Fear, Anger and Sadness)?
What is their relationship with each of those emotions?
What are the emotions that make them more uncomfortable and why?
How could they draw emotions beyond face expressions?
How can they see anger expressed in Nature?
How can they identify love expressed in Nature?
How can they find a metaphor in nature about Joy?
How can they find in nature an expression of sadness?
How can they find in nature an expression of fear?
Emotions are contagious, How do they feel when someone is laughing? And how do they feel when someone is crying?
Which are the things do they procrastinate? Why?
WIND/AIR: in astrology this element is associated with thinking (our thoughts), the mind, curiosity, learning new things, bringing new ideas and exploring them, along with lateral thinking. As well as, overthinking and anxiety.
Do they like the wind? What is their feeling about the Wind?
What is their feeling they hear the wind blowing?
If they are afraid of it, why? Can they draw it?
If they would need to draw their thoughts at this present moment, how does it look like?
If they would need to add colors to their thoughts at the present moment, which color would they have?
What are the things they like to learn the most?
Give them scenarios to solve problems with new ideas
Do they like to learn new things? Invite them to draw what they would like to learn about
This is great topic to introduce and explore Mindfulness and lateral thinking with them
How do they feel when they have a lot of thoughts?
Which tools can they use when that happens? Like writing, drawing, dancing and walking on the grass
How do they feel when they are anxious?
Which tools can they use when that happens? Like breathing
EARTH: in astrology this element is associated with giving structure to ideas, bringing them to live, add order, organize something and stay connected to the present moment. As well as, being inflexible and getting easily frustrated with something unexpected.
Do they like walking barefoot on soil? What is their feeling about it?
It is a great opportunity to invite them to build something with paper, legos, coding or any other available material to create.
As well as, starting a vegetable garden project at school or at home
How do they connect with their present moment?
How do they feel when something goes unexpected?
ENERGY: this is an element that we haven't explored a lot as humans as of yet. But it is the element that connects all the other four we talked before. Energy is imperceptible to ours five senses but it doesn't mean it isn't there. Here are some questions to explore energy, with the kids, in the way our mind and body react to it.
How would you draw energy?
Which color might it have?
How do you feel in a crowded place? Do you feel energize or tired after it?
How do you feel in dirty place? Does it bother you or not?
How do you feel in nature? Does it relax you or energize you?
How do you feel after crying? Do you feel relaxed or sad?
How do you feel when mom or dad are angry with you?
How do you feel when a friend is mad or crying?
The places we are and the energy of those places affect our body and mind. Emotions are usually the way our body and mind express this effect. That is how we can perceive the energy of the place we are and understand if the energy is friendly one for us in that particular moment or isn't. Usually an emotion of happiness and enthusiasm is a sign that we have been in an energetically harmonious place. Emotions like sadness or anxiety, is a sign that we have been in a not harmonious one.
Same applies to people. When someone is angry or crying their energy levels are lower and that might affect our energy too. The book "The Map of Consciousness Explained: A Proven Energy Scale to Actualize Your Ultimate Potential" by David R. Hawkins, explained a lot the relationship between emotions and energy.
There isn't anything right or wrong with low or high levels of energy. We all go up and down on energy of the time and several times a day. But being aware of its existence can help us to better navigate certain circunstaces. Teaching the kids how to regulate their energy, inspired more conscious adults.
I hope RED Droppie brought multiple and creative ways to connect with love, Mother Earth and specially kids with themselves.
Reminder: These are just some aspects to travel with this book, in this eternal journey through the colors. Stay colorful!
